NOVEMBER 2010
Kirkland Performance Center presents Viva La Mamma by Donizetti
Thursday, November 4, 2020 at 7:00pm $25/$22
Viva La Mamma is a wild farce about the travails of an opera company trying to put on a newly composed show. Rehearsals are underway for the very serious opera Romolo ed Ersilia, but a madly temperamental prima donna and her fussy husband, who is also a singer, make life miserable for their colleagues. Her rival is Luigia, another soprano, whose aggressive mother, Agata (composed for and sung by a baritone), tries to substitute for a defecting tenor and throws the whole cast into confusion. This comical musical is a young artists program production, performed by young professional singers seeking guidance and training in an intense 20-week course through the Seattle Opera.
